Many people enjoy growing Jade Plants in their homes and offices because they are considered symbols of good luck. But you do not need to be lucky to learn how to properly care for and maintain Jade Plants. The most important factors to consider when growing Jade Plants are water, light, temperature, and fertilizer.
It is easy to grow in a container and is best in full sun, but it will tolerate part sun. It needs well-drained soil with a neutral pH. Water regularly from spring to fall and allow the soil to dry out before watering again. During the winter, water the plant only enough to keep the leaves from shriveling. The most common reason for failure is overwatering.
Propagation is achieved by placing leaf or stem cuttings in a soil mix and allowing them to grow. Before adding them to the soil mix, you can prevent potential problems by allowing the sap to dry on a windowsill for a few days.
