Description
Aeonium arboreum 'Atropurpureum Crested' is an interesting succulent shrub that developed a crest mutation on its branches that are topped with leaves that change color from reddish-green to deep reddish-purple depending on the season. It is smaller but more interesting than the normal form of Aeonium arboreum 'Atropurpureum'. The leaves are also smaller than the leaves of the normal form. The branches lose the lower leaves as they age. Each specimen has a unique shape. Some growths are stable, but others tend to revert to normal growth.

How to Grow and Care for Aeonium arboreum 'Atropurpureum Crested'
Hardiness: USDA hardiness zone 9b to 11b: from 25°F (-3.9°C) to 40°F (4.4°C).
Tree Aeonium grows best in full sun during the cooler months and when grown in coastal areas. When grown indoors or in summer, provide this succulent with afternoon or partial shade. Avoid placing Tree Aeoniums in sites with western sun exposures.
Though Tree Aeoniums tolerate various soil types — as long as they're well-drained — they prefer light, porous soil. Therefore, you may want to amend your planting site with sand and limestone chips. For container gardening, plant Tree Aeonium in a moderately moist medium with excellent drainage.
This drought-tolerant plant hates water around its roots, so avoid excessive watering. These succulents go dormant in summer in the wild, so water sparingly during the hotter months, allowing plants to dry out between waterings. In the winter, reduce watering to once per month.
