Browsing: Dracaena

Dracaena is a genus that comprises about 120 species of trees and succulent shrubs. The formerly accepted genera Pleomele and Sansevieria are now included in Dracaena.

Most of the species are native to Africa, southern Asia, and northern Australia, with only two species found in tropical Central America.

The generic name "dracaena" is a Latin noun meaning "a she-dragon" and refers to the bright red dried resin, called dragon's blood, obtained from many species.
