Strombocactus is a monotypic genus in the Cactus family (Cactaceae) containing the single species Strombocactus disciformis. The plant originates from central and northeast Mexico. The genus name comes from the Greek "strombos", meaning "fir cone, spinning top" and refers to the shape of the plant.
