Cleretum is a small genus of flowering plants in the family Aizoaceae, native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. The genus was established by the English plant taxonomist Nicholas Edward Brown in 1925. The meaning of the name is unclear. It is derived from the Greek "kleros", an item used in drawing lots for land in Spartan times, and the Latin ending "-etum", refers to the place dominated by a given plant.
